Orthodox Christians from around the world are urged to join the petition in support of Metropolitan Tychikos of Paphos. An appeal to the Holy Synod of the Cypriot Orthodox Church was published by the bishop's support group on June 20, 2005, on the global public petition platform Avaaz.org
"In the name of the Holy Trinity, we, the Orthodox Christians from all over the world, openly and firmly declare that the process of prosecution and suspension of Metropolitan Tychikos in Cyprus, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus on May 22, 2025, and its subsequent actions, are arbitrary, unsubstantiated, unjust, uncanonical, and in violation of the Constitution of the Church of Cyprus and the Holy Canons of the Orthodox Church," states the petition.
The Synod of the Cypriot Church is urged to restore justice by «annulling the uncanonical process of condemnation that was followed and reinstating Metropolitan Tychikos as the Metropolitan of Paphos".
As of the evening of June 23, the petition was supported by 406 people.
The document can be signed at the link.
As reported by the UOJ, Metropolitan Tychikos of Paphos sent a letter to the members of the Holy Synod of the Cypriot Orthodox Church on the eve of the next synodal meeting, insisting on his canonical status.
