Met Yevlogy condemns shelling of Sumy and offers condolences to victims

On June 3, 2025, Metropolitan Yevlogy of Sumy and Okhtyrka addressed the faithful in response to yet another Russian shelling of the regional capital, according to the press service of the Sumy Eparchy.
As the metropolitan noted, “The enemy carried out a barbaric strike using multiple rocket launcher systems against our peaceful city of Sumy.”
He called the incident not just a tragedy but “another war crime,” expressed condolences to the victims, and urged the clergy to offer prayers for the dead and wounded, and for peace in war-weary Ukraine.
“We will not break. We will not consent to evil. God is with us,” the hierarch emphasized, calling on the faithful to remain steadfast in their faith and not grow accustomed to sorrow.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that the Hlinsk Hermitage had also come under shelling.
