On the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, May 4, 2025, a festive liturgy was celebrated in the village of Lypcha, Khust district, to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Women's Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the press service of the Khust Eparchy.
The Divine Liturgy was led by Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv, with Metropolitan Ioann of Kherson and Tavria, Archbishop Simeon of Uhlya, Bishop Veniamin of Skadovsk, the clergy of the Khust Eparchy, and visiting clergy concelebrating.
"A large number of parishioners and pilgrims gathered for the festive service to share in the spiritual joy with the sisterhood of the nunnery," the eparchy’s press service stated.
During the liturgy, the hierarchs, clergy, nuns, parishioners, and pilgrims prayed for peace in Ukraine and deliverance from the enemy, asking God’s mercy for the Ukrainian people: that the Lord would grant wisdom to the authorities, courage to the soldiers, freedom to the captives, healing to the sick, and shelter to the homeless.
After the service, Metropolitan Mark congratulated the abbesses, the sisters of the monastery, and the faithful on the monastery’s centennial.
As previously reported by the UOJ, the Khust Eparchy of the UOC released a documentary commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Lypcha nunnery. The film highlighted the key stages in the monastery’s development and spiritual life, including personal recollections of the nuns and insights into the present-day life of the monastic community
