Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Orthodox Church sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the enthronement of the newly elected Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, Ioannis (Pelushi), reports basilica.ro.

The Romanian Patriarch noted that Archbishop John is called “to the high ministry of Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, with the sacred mission of faithfully continuing and developing the spiritual legacy of the esteemed Archbishop Anastasios.”

“We are fully confident that Your Beatitude will fulfill this new ministry with great pastoral responsibility and missionary dynamism, contributing to the preaching of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in an increasingly secularized world marked by numerous crises,” Patriarch Daniel emphasized.

He also assured Archbishop John of his “complete readiness for the closest cooperation between our sister Churches.”

“Only in this way can we jointly bear a credible Christian witness in Europe and throughout the world,” he added.

The message was delivered by the Archbishop and honorary Metropolitan of Târgoviște of the Muntenia Metropolis, who attended the enthronement ceremony.

“On behalf of the Holy Synod, the clergy, and the faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church, we congratulate you on this blessed event. At the same time, we wish Your Beatitude many fruitful years in the service of the Holy Orthodox Church of Albania,” Patriarch Daniel concluded.

As previously reported by the UOJ, the enthronement of the new Primate of the Albanian Church took place on March 29, 2025.
